To make the process more clear and simple we have added a section to our website for parents. Here we have enlisted some frequently asked questions and their replies. We are also working on a Talent’s Forum where Talents and Clients (Production Houses) can blog and post their queries. Forum is currently active on a trial mode.

What is a casting agency?

A Casting agency represent talents for work in Films, Ads, TV, Fashion etc. It works with Production Houses, Ad agencies, Television channels and event companies.

What are the kids’ activities of Launchpad?

Launchpad has a special division called Small Wonders. In Small Wonders kids get cool pictures, website, have fun and learn about this industry, appear for studio auditions and at the same time get represented as a talent. We are soon launching a special website for Small Wonders, where all the kid talents associated with Launchpad can enjoy online fun stuff like games, videos, music, online workshops and competitions.

Does Launchpad give any guarantee or assurance of assignments?

No. Casting agencies represent talents using its best endeavors through pictures, Website, Emailer, Database, Casting book, etc. but can not guarantee selection for any assignment. Selection is done by the Production houses and Ad agencies, and it depends on the factors related to the talent. Hence no genuine casting agency will ever give assurance or guarantee for any assignment. Same goes for professional adult models.

Should I take modeling/acting as a possible career option for my kid?

No. The entire activity of pictures, website, studio auditions, interactive sessions, etc. is to be considered as a fun and extracurricular activity and not as a professional activity for kids. Launchpad is strongly against taking this as a career or professional activity for kids and always suggests taking it as fun and learning activity for kids. Kids would enjoy more if there is no sense of competition or selection.

Do I need a modeling portfolio? Does Launchpad make modeling portfolios?

A professional modeling portfolio cost 10- 20 thousand and is not necessary for kids. Kid’s appearance changes faster and hence spending thousands on a portfolio is not recommended.

Launchpad clicks semiprofessional pictures for free. These pictures are edited and uploaded on our kids section.

Is there any membership fee to join the Agency as a Talent? Is there any fee for website?

No. The Agency does not charge any yearly membership/registration or audition fees.

The Agency may charge a onetime website fee from the talent for processing, editing, uploading and maintaining pictures on the website.

The Agency does not charge to click pictures. Talents can get new pictures clicked twise in a year without any cost.

What are Auditions?

Audition is a video screening process where talents are asked to perform a part of the script on camera. The auditions are then reviewed by the producer/director for the final selection.

Do I have to go for every audition in my kids age group? And how many Auditions in a year can I expect?

No. Age group is not the only criterion. A talent is called for those auditions where he/she gets shortlisted by the productions and fits the character entirely in terms of age group as well as looks and skills. Selection can also happen through pictures without going for auditions. A talent can expect 3 to 8 auditions in a year, depending on the requirements in his/her category. Same goes for professional models as well.

When do I get a feedback after an audition?

The selected kids are informed within 7 to 15 days of the audition. However parents can call the agency anytime to have a feedback

Can I view my kid’s pictures on the website?

Yes. You will require your Website-Code and Password as few of the sections on “www.launchpadmedia.in” are made password protected. Web-Code and Password can be obtained by calling launchpad office after 20 working days of signing with Launchpad.

The website is user-friendly and easy to excess. To view your pictures on the website please follow the method:

1.. Go to www.launchpadmedia.in
2.. Click on “Browse Models”
3.. Select your category (E.g. Kids, Models-F, Models-M, Characters)
4.. Select your subcategory (E.g. Kids-F, Kids-M, Babies)
5.. Enter the password and Web-Code. Click Submit
6.. Click on the icon (Small Picture) to open a full page.

Can I send new self clicked (clicked at home) pictures by Email?

Yes, you can send some self clicked pictures to the agency. If the pictures are appropriate, they will be edited and uploaded on the website. Please take following things into consideration when you are sending self clicked pictures :

Make your child wear bright color cloths.
Take both close up and full length pictures.
Don’t send bulk pictures. Shortlist and send maximum 10 pictures.
Click pictures in a bright corner of your house preferably with plain wall as a background and don’t use flash.

Can I join other Agencies?

Yes. Launchpad does not have an exclusive contract with the Talents; hence the Talent is free to join other Agencies. Other professional agencies may also charge a processing or a technical fee. However, avoid modelling agencies or coordinators who ask huge charges for portfolio or picture and membership fees.

Should I make my kid join Acting Classes?

Acting classes are not required for kids. However, you can enroll them in short summer workshops for performing arts like dancing, this will do good to their confidence. There are lots of good performing arts institutes who run weekend workshops for kids.
